From a single contest in 2001 to a national network of 100+ colleges, the 25th MicrobiOlympiad marks twenty-five years of inspiring life-science students across India. Founded by Prof. Ulhas Patil and dedicated to Louis Pasteur & Robert Koch, it has grown every year into the country's foremost celebration of budding microbiologists.

Who can enter

Eligibility

  • Open to regular FY, SY and TY undergraduates and postgraduate life-science students.
  • Subjects: Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Zoology, Botany and allied Life Sciences (principal or subsidiary).
  • UG quiz tracks are organised year-wise (FY / SY / TY); PG students compete in the PG-MBQ track.
  • Allied competitions are open to participating life-science students per each event's rules.
How the quiz runs

Two levels

  • Level I — MicrobioLogical Contest. Final screening quiz on 20 January 2027, supervised by coordinators at each college — preceded by three practice tests (2 Nov, 7 Dec, 18 Dec) and a mock test (19 Jan). Held separately for FY, SY and TY; ~50 MCQs, no negative marking, a separate syllabus per year.
  • Level II — MicrobiOlympiad Finals. Held offline at The Institute of Science, Mumbai in the second week of February 2027; top finalists compete face-to-face across four fast-paced rounds.

How to register your students

Registration is handled by your college coordinator on the MicrobiOlympiad portal — students do not register themselves. It takes only a few minutes per student.

Log in at microbiolympiad.org with your college coordinator account.

Add the student's details

Enter name, year (FY / SY / TY / PG / Research Scholar), subject and email — all updates are sent to the student by email.

Tick the events

Select every event the student is entering; the total fee is calculated automatically as you tick.

Verify payment & enter the transaction ID

Confirm the amount collected and record the UPI/bank transaction reference.

Register & confirm

Submit — the student instantly receives a professional confirmation email, and future updates arrive by email too.
